Chris Rom, a New York City sales manager for Brooklyn Brewery who turns 39 Monday and who lives in Allendale (N.J.), was sitting just to the right of the left field foul pole when Carlos Delgado smacked the first pitch of the at-bat against Yankee starter Chien-Ming Wang. But a would-be, three-run homer that would have blown the game wide open was ruled foul by home plate ump Bob Davidson.
