Fantasy Hockey Injury Roundup: Brodeur and More
Devils Goalie Martin Brodeur is out for three to four months with a serious bicep injury. Kevin Weekes immediately becomes a decent No. 2 fantasy option, but not much more. Why not? While he did post solid numbers as a starter in years past, the Devils' defense of late has been rather poor. They're allowing far too many scoring chances and not playing as a team. To top it all off, New Jersey is rumored to be looking for a goaltender to hold them over until Marty returns.
Prognosis: Weekes is a potential high-end No. 2 at best. Pick him up if you're in trouble at goalie, otherwise, hold tight.
Scott Walker was taken off IR today by the Carolina Hurricanes. He's an excellent multi-category player when healthy. He can post PIMs, points, and power play points. The problem is simply that he is almost never healthy.
Prognosis: If you're desperate at right wing, keep an eye on him over the next week or so before making a move.
