Today, Canada mourns the loss of a great man in Ted Rogers, the Owner of the Toronto Blue Jays. My thoughts and prayers go out to Loretta, his children, and all the other family and friends who will truly miss this man.
Back in 2000, I had the unique opportunity to meet and shake hands with Mr. Rogers. I was working for his cellular phone company at the time, and he took time out of his day to introduce himself to all 200 staff members, and even posed for pictures with anyone who had a camera.
It is not every day you get the opportunity to shake hands with a man whose net worth is in the billions. And what a gracious man he was, talking about whatever you wanted to talk about.
He took over the Jays after their World Series triumphs, and rescued the team from a fate similar to that of the Expos. He revitalized baseball in Toronto, and the rest of Canada (at a professional level) at a time when it was in serious need of revitalization. He has ...
