Quarterback Brett Favre has decided to retire. An NFL source confirmed reports that Favre informed Green Bay Packers Coach Mike McCarthy on Monday night that he has decided to call it a career. The Biloxi Sun Herald reported that Favre's brother Scott confirmed Brett's decision. Favre, 38, has contemplated retirement after each of the past few seasons. Well, the day has finally come. Brett Favre is retiring from the NFL and the Green Bay Packers. Favre has informed Coach Mike McCarthy of his decision and no doubt a news conference will take place in the next day or two. It is obviously a sad day for Packer Nation and I’m sure everyone here at the Frozen Tundra will weigh in with their thoughts shortly. I will do so later in the day as well.FAVRE TO RETIRE

The Brett Favre era for the Green Bay Packers has come to an end. ESPN is reporting that Favre’s agent Bus Cook told Packers coach Mike McCarthy of his clients decision last night. Favre also called ESPN reporter Chris Mortensen this morning to officially break the news.
