Feel disgruntled with Yanks? Try being a Pirates fan

 
Greetings from Pittsburgh. The Yankees kick off a three-game set tonight at beautiful PNC Park, looking to boost their record even higher above .500. Entering tonight, the Bombers sit just 4½ games behind the first-place Red Sox and three games behind the wild card-leading Rays. When you consider the drama the Yankees have gone through during the first 12 weeks of the season, that’s pretty good. Of course, the Red Sox have had their own share of problems, but in the end, the record is all that matters. Nobody will care that Boston was without David Ortiz or that the Yanks lost Chien-Ming Wang. Wins and losses are all that anybody will remember in the end. On my cab ride from the airport, the cabbie told me the Yankees should be embarrassed if they lose any games to the Pirates. Now, of course we all know that sweeps are rare, so the chances that the Bucs take a game is good, but what struck me was the anger in his voice as he said it.
