Tennessee Titans Wide Receiver Debate
Published 3/11/2008 by Jimmy <info@musiccitymiracles.com> at Music City Miracles: Front Page Posts
... a #1 receiver in this draft, and even if there is it would take a couple of years for that guy to get there.  It is dumb to put all your eggs in that basket. Bottom line: I am not upset that the Titans let any of the guys in free agency go elsewhere.  I will be upset though if they aren't making a push to get a guy that might be available.   Thoughts.... Update [2008-3-11 14:29:3 by Jimmy]: The Cardinals must have read what I wrote and got scared.

FITZGERALD DEAL CREATES $8.8 MILLION IN CAP ROOM
Published 3/11/2008 by Mike Florio at ProFootballTalk.com
The good needs for the Arizona Cardinals?  Their contract extension with receiver Larry Fitzgerald has created roughly $8.8 million in 2008 cap room , according to John Clayton of ESPN.com. The bad news?  His cap number for 2008 is still $7.6 million. In all, Fitzgerald has $30 million in guaranteed payments over four years, which equates to an average amount of cap space of $7.5 million per season, just for the guaranteed money.  There’s another $10 million in non-guaranteed money, and Fitzgerald is likely to earn every penny, barring a career-limiting injury or an unexpected ...

Larry Fitzgerald Off Radar Screen
Published 3/11/2008 by thelandryhat at The Landry Hat | A Dallas Cowboys Blog
For those of you speculating and wondering about wide out Larry Fitzgerald joining the Dallas Cowboys can stop it now. He just signed with the Cardinals in a huge deal that makes him one of the richest wide receivers in the NFL. He’s worth it. It seems the Cardinals finally want to compete. However, the contract, which guarantees him $33 million over 3 years, surely will cause the Cowboys heartburn. Why? It’s a lot more guaranteed dough than Terrell Owens got in his contract that is up for negotiation.

Packers losing grip on Chillar

... "Over the final two years of his old deal, Fitzgerald was scheduled to make $14,592,500 in 2008 and $17,355,000 in 2009," reports John Clayton of ESPN. "That put the team in a tight cap bind -- with less than $400,000 of cap room remaining -- so signing players was tough until they struck a deal with Fitzgerald. They had only 48 players on their roster and only 16 players on defense." ...

Arizona Cardinals Larry Fitzgerald signs extension, Boldin on way out?
Published 3/12/2008 by JScott <info@bucem.com> at Buc 'Em: Front Page Posts
The Arizona Cardinals signed WR Larry Fitzgerald to a four year contract extension. This immediately eliminates Fitzgerald from any possible trade situations as the Cardinals have now freed up over $8 Million in cap space with the new deal. This move does make WR Anquan Boldin's future in the desert a little sketchy. Anquan is clearly the better Receiver Now and is making significantly less than Fitzgerald. Almost 7 million less a season. Despite freeing up over $8 million in cap space this off-season, the Cardinals are still headed for cap space headaches in the near future. ...
