Will Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade also be holding press conferences when they visit Madison Square Garden this year? In order to be fair, any player that is scheduled to become a free agent by the summer of 2010 deserves equal time. And that includes Jerome James.
LeBron James' first trip to New York on Tuesday was as bizarre as it gets. Not only was the game secondary but the next two seasons seem secondary as the Knicks gear up to make a run at the NBA's best young superstar. (For my money, Kobe is still the league's top talent for now but LeBron is closing fast.) LeBron won't be a free agent for 20 months and yet folks wanted answers from him yesterday about will he or won't he leave Cleveland to sign with the Knicks.
And I'll say this about LeBron; he is shrewd operator. He says the right things without offending anyone and talks and acts as if he is committed to winning a championship for the Cavs. His decision to sign a short term deal put Cleveland on notice to go out and upgrade ...
