Florida Gators to Roll Against FSU: SEC and Possible BCS Titles Await
It is hard to believe that just a few years ago, the "Battle for the Governor's Cup" would have been perhaps the most eagerly anticipated matchup of the college football season.
Now the Florida State Seminoles are most likely a speed bump on Florida's drive to a likely SEC Championship next week and a shot at a second national title in three years.
From 1991-2000, both teams in this Sunshine State showdown were ranked in the top 10 for games that nearly always featured national championship implications. While the national championship implications remain this year, they only involve the boys from Gainesville.
Florida is currently ranked No. 4 in the BCS and holds the second and third spots in the AP and coaches' polls respectively. With the SEC champion virtually assured of an appearance in the title game, Urban Meyer and his Gators are unlikely to have a letdown against their in-state rival.
