Ford hits jackpot in Oklahoma

UMass coach Travis Ford may have turned down Providence to stay at that Atlantic 10 school, but he apparently couldn’t resist an offer from Oklahoma State. Ford, who led the Minutemen to 49 wins in two years and the finals of this year’s NIT, has been on a fast track for the last few years and it was only a matter of time before he moved up the ladder. He is expected to meet with his team later this afternoon. Oklahoma State, which dismissed Sean Sutton after just two years, originally threw big money at Bill Self, then offered the job to Chris Lowrey of Southern Illinois. Both opted to stay put. Expect Ford’s contract to be worth in excess of $1 million a year. [link]
