Four years in the making, Jed Lowrie is the Red Sox's answer at shortstop

 
The conundrum at the shortstop position for the Red Sox has been solved after four years, but Boston fans don’t seem to take real notice.  Jed Lowrie quietly made a splash when arriving from AAA Pawtucket to help Boston when Mike Lowell went down earlier in the season. Since his arrival, he has proved why he was a highly touted prospect from Stanford and a key piece in the failed Johan Santana trade talks. But who the f#$* is Jed Lowrie? Jed Lowrie, a native of Salem, Oregon, was a first round draft pick out of Stanford in 2005. In 2004, Jed Lowrie batted .339, with 17 home runs and 68 RBI in 233 at bats for the Stanford Cardinals. In 2005, Lowrie batted .317 with 14 home runs and 66 RBI in 224 at bats. In the minor leagues, Lowrie saw his power drop, however, he was able to maintain a high average while performing at every level of the minor leagues.
