Georgetown-Louisville: Hoyas Drop Cardinals for Big East Title

The Louisville Cardinals played tough and kept it close but in the end nothing was going to stop the Georgetown Hoyas from winning their consecutive Big East regular season title. In what was a relatively low-scoring game where Louisville (24-7) seemed to control the tempo the entire time, Georgetown hit the shots when they counted most, including a late three-pointer by DaJuan Summers, giving the Hoyas a 55-52 win in Washington and a No. 1 ranking in the Big East Tournament. The Hoyas withstood the pressure defense from Louisville and were led by freshman Austin Freeman who put in 15 points. Hoyas center Roy Hibbert had 12 point, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks in his final home game as a Hoya. The Cardinals played their usual stellar defense—getting a season high 14 steals—but their offense was just as bad as their defense was good.
