As many Ranger fans lament about the lack of a true first line center, a big nasty defenseman, and the contracts of Wade Redden, Michael Roszival and Chris Drury, the following thoughts came to mind.
if you only think that filling a team's holes comes with the signing of veteran players, one might be overly concerned ... um no, make that more like in a panic. There comes a point in every organization's development when some of the reins and some of the improvement has to be turned over to the young kids, because the holes are just too big to try and fill with vets. I have no doubt that like last year, Slats is again going to rely on a lot of prayer and a dose of hope. Can't say that I know if Slats is religious or not, but if it's the latter then I suggest he gets some religion real fast.
