Golden Tate and Michael Floyd are two of the reasons Irish fans are excited about 2009. They are expected to be one of the most dynamic receiving duos in college football.
Both are off to great starts in their Notre Dame career. Tate has really become a deep threat and can just flat out make big plays happen.
Floyd broke all kinds of freshman school receiving records in 2008. He is also a deep threat but he can also catch it in space and run after the catch.
With Tate's ability to take it to the house and Floyd's ability to keep the drive moving, these guys should be exciting to watch. The talent is definitely there, but what can really push these guys to the next level?
The answer is competition. Now I don't mean competing with the other teams. I mean competing with each other. Both Floyd and Tate should want to be the primary receiver every week. Both should want the most catches, most yards, and most touchdowns.
