NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has issued a statement on Brett Favre's retirement. It says: "Brett Favre will always be remembered as one of the greatest players and fiercest competitors in NFL history. His long list of accomplishments both on and off the field is remarkable. In what really came as a shock to NFL fans, the Green Bay Packers QB has called it quits. The Mississippi gunslinger said in a voicemail to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, “I know I can still play, but it’s like I told my wife, I’m just tired mentally. I’m just tired.”
