Gregg Zaun's Pinch-Hit Double Leads Toronto Blue Jays to 3-2 Victory

 
Jesse Litsch managed to avoid major damage in a start where his control was questionable, giving him his 12th win of the season in a close 3-2 victory over the Baltimore Orioles. Litsch struggled with his control all through out the game, as evidenced by his three straight walks in the fifth inning, loading the bases for Alex Cintron. Cintron made Litsch pay for his wildness by hitting a two-run single, scoring Jay Payton and Oscar Salazar for the only two runs the Orioles would score. Litsch finished the game with six shaky innings pitched, giving up just those two runs on four hits, an extremely high four walks, while still managing to strike out six batters. Brian Wolfe and Jesse Carlson each pitched perfect innings in relief, setting up BJ Ryan for the save in the ninth with a 3-2 lead. Ryan ended up loading the bases with just one out, but managed to get the last two outs without any damage and preserving the lead and his 31st save of the season.
