Allan Houston’s comeback suffered a setback when the veteran guard was ruled out for tonight’s preseason opener against the Raptors in Toronto due to a sore right quad muscle.
The less Houston plays the more likely he is to be released before the regular season begins in three weeks. It will be an uphill climb for Houston to prove that he belongs on the 15-man roster. Something tells me that if Houston doesn’t envision himself making the active 12-man roster he will retire for good.
The idea that Houston’s mere presence in the locker room will serve the Knicks well makes sense but only if he can still play. Plus, wasn’t Malik Rose always being portrayed as the locker room sage? And for that sage advice, the Knicks are paying Malik $7 million this year.
Although Houston will not play there is a possibility that Eddy Curry will see some action. Mike D’Antoni said earlier today that there won’t be any surprises in his starting lineup which means that ...
