Hobson signs one-year deal with Pats

After one month on the free-agent market, former Jets OLB Victor Hobson finally has a new home - New England. Hobson signed a one-year contract to play for the Jets’ arch rival, the NFL Network reported today. The Jets showed little interest in re-signing Hobson, a four-year starter, and they basically eliminated him from the radar screen once they signed former Cardinals OLB Calvin Pace to a mega free-agent deal. The free-agent experience had to be humbling for Hobson, who figured he’d be a fairly hot commodity. But the free-agent has proven one thing: If you’re a linebacker that doesn’t sack the quarterback, the demand isn’t that great. Look at the Bears’ Lance Briggs; he didn’t attract nearly as much interest as peopled expected. Hobson is a good addition for the Patriots, who will figure out ways to use his skills.
