Ryan Howard entered Thursday's game against the Padres with a .172 average. But he finished the game with two huge hits, including the game-winning homer in the bottom of the eighth inning off Padres reliever Joe Thatcher, propelling the Phillies to a 3-2 victory before 33,001 at Citizens Bank Park.
