Howard's success with Everton gives US strength in goal for World Cup qualifiers (AP)

 
Tim Howard had to watch on TV as his former teammates hoisted the biggest prize in club football, after his replacement as Manchester United goalkeeper made a winning penalty kick save. It could easily have been Howard -- not Edwin van der Sar -- in the starring role in last month's Champions League final, where United beat Chelsea in a shootout on a rainy night in Moscow. (link)
