Ian Kennedy gets demoted; Phil Hughes needs glasses

 
Just saw on the pre-game that Ian Kennedy has been sent down to AAA to make room for Darrell Rasner, today’s starter. I think it’s the right move for the Yanks. Ian, who looked so terrific last season, has been simply lost on the mound this year. And Rasner has been pitching very well at AAA this year. Yet when you go to yankees.com, there’s still a story up from yesterday with the headline “Yanks in no rush to demote Kennedy.” Yet less than 24 hours later, he was demoted. So much for that article. Now that Phil Hughes has been put on the DL, it means that Joba Chamberlain is the only member of “Generation Trey,” as Michael Kay called them, still pitching with the team. I have great hopes for Hughes and Kennedy someday being great starters for the Yanks, but they’re not there yet. Speaking of Hughes, he reportedly cracked that rib by sneezing too hard.
