Indians Keep Getting Younger, Add Anthony Reyes

After the Indians traded away Casey Blake to the Dodgers for prospects, Cleveland kept wheeling and dealing by sending minor-leaguer Luis Perdomo to St. Louis for former top pitching prospect Anthony Reyes. Anthony Reyes looked prime for a role in the Cardinals rotation during the preseason, but soon drifted to the bullpen. He is 2-1 with a save (of the three-inning variety), but was placed on the DL in June. At the time of the deal, he was in Triple-A with the Memphis Redbirds, going 2-3 with a 3.25 ERA in 11 starts (52.2 innings). Reyes did not have a good season last year, going 2-14 with an earned-run average a little over six. In 2006, he went 5-8 with a 5.06 ERA and 72 strikeouts but pitched well late in helping the Cards win the World Series. [link]
