As hockey fans already know, New Jersey's goaltender Martin Brodeur injured his left elbow during the second period in the Devils' game against Atlanta. To us, we thought it was an ordinary injury that could easily be repaired, and that he'd be back in two to three weeks. Thing is, it is worse than we expected.
General Manager Lou Lamoriello explained to the media on Saturday about their starting goaltender's situation.
"Brodeur will undergo surgery to repair the distal bicep in his left elbow, a tendon that he told me completely tore off the bone of the elbow," says Lamoriello. "He is going to miss a minimum of three to four months."
Unfortunately for Brodeur, with this crucial injury, it will be difficult for the Devils' net-minder to break the two records he's been aiming for over the past two years. Brodeur remains eight wins shy of passing Hall of Famer Patrick Roy on the all-time wins list, and six shutouts short of passing Terry ...
