It Pays To Be Loyal: Turner Gill Receives Extension and Raise To Stay at Buffalo

 
Turner Gill is staying put in Buffalo, at least for the time being. After leading the Buffalo Bulls to an 8-5 record and its first MAC Championship, head coach Turner Gill has received an extension and a pay raise through 2013. BCS programs such as Syracuse and Auburn have inquired about Gill's services over the past few weeks, but decided to select other candidates.  Syracuse hired New Orleans Saints offensive coordinator Doug Marrone, while Auburn controversially chose Iowa State head coach Gene Chizik. With the impression that Gill could possibly be on his way out to coach a more respected program, the University of Buffalo offered Gill an extension. Three years ago when Gill took over the Buffalo program it was considered one of the worst in the country.  In such a short time he has led the Bulls through the transition to be the top team in the MAC.   During the announcement to the public earlier this afternoon Gill exclaimed, "On the day I came here to be the head ...
