Jason Pominville Inks Five-Year Contract Extension with the Buffalo Sabres

The Buffalo Sabres released a statement Friday announcing that they have come to an agreement with right winger Jason Pominville. A five-year contract extension, reportedly worth $5 million per year, will keep Pominville with the Sabres through the 2013-2014 season.  He was due to become a restricted free agent at the end of the season. Pominville was second in scoring on the team last year with 80 points, including 53 assists and 27 goals.  This signing is great news for the Sabres. Pominville's signing, coupled with the signing of Ryan Miller, locks up two very important players who would have become free agents at the end of the season. Pominville has continued to improve since he first joined the Sabres, and this contract certainly shows that they believe he will continue to improve, and be a leader on the team.
