Jets likely to pass on Matt Ryan

Ostensibly, they will battle it out in training camp for the starting job, reminding us of the old John Madden saying: “If you have two quarterbacks, you don’t have any.” Or something like that. The future of the Eric Mangini-Mike Tannenbaum regime could be determined by how they handle this quarterback matter. Obviously, we know how Mangini feels about Pennington. You don’t take a longtime starter, a moderately successful QB, and toss him to the side of the road for half a season unless you have some serious reservations about him.
