Jets might like Favre, but probably wont budge
Sorry for the late post, folks, but I was tied up with another story Friday, something about an aging quarterback perhaps coming to the Jets.
Here’s my take on the Brett Favre situation:
Do I think they’re interested? Yes.
Do I think he’ll end up with the Jets? No.
I think GM Mike Tannenbaum is doing what any good GM with a shaky QB situation should do: He’s checking out the availability of one of the greatest quarterbacks in history. Quarterbacks of Favre’s stature don’t become available too often, and I think he recognizes it’s a rare opportunity. Curiously, it took a while for the Jets to jump into the fray. Up until Tuesday, when colleague Gary Myers wrote a Favre column, the Jets weren’t interested.
Obviously, something changed. But how much are they really interested? Remember, the Packers called the Jets, not the other way around. That should telll you something. I think the Jets are going to play this out, but they’re ...
