Jets saying goodbye to Long Island

Say goodbye to the Jets, Long Island. Fans knew this day was coming, but it is coming sooner than expected. The Jets will be packing up and leaving Hofstra, their home for the last 40 years, after training camp, the club announced today. They will be moving to the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center in Florham Park, N.J., roughly 30 miles west of Manhattan. Initially, the plan was to make the move after the 2008 season, but construction is ahead of schedule and the football operation will be moving in late August or early September. One potential glitch: The club doesn’t have an exact date, and there’s a chance it may not happen as soon as the team breaks camp. It’s conceivable they may not move until after the start of the regular season, which could be a major distraction to the team.
