Joe Girardi might be out for Opening Day

 
It figures. For the first time in a long time, we have a Yankee manager willing to stand toe to toe to defend his players. And now because of that, he might miss the chance to manage in his very first game, March 31’s Opening Day at the Stadium. According to today’s paper , MLB is looking into disciplinary action over Wednesday’s Yankee brawl with Tampa Bay. And that could mean that Joe Girardi (and Rays manager Joe Maddon) would get suspended for a game, which could be Opening Day. Unlike players’ suspensions, there are no appeals for managers when it comes to fights, Girardi was not thrown out of the game after the brawl, although Yankee coaches Bobby Meacham and Kevin Long did get ejected. So it seems to me that Girardi should not receive disciplinary action for this. But I won’t be surprised if it happens.
