Jonathan Mitchell heading home

 
Florida sophomore forward Jonathan Mitchell has a few more weeks of school left in Gainesville. But he recently gained his letter of release from Gator-town, and now he wants to come back up north. “There’s no question about that,” said Herb Mitchell, Jonathan’s uncle, who’s helping handle his re-recruitment. Herb listed his nephew’s top three possible destinations as Rutgers, UMass and Seton Hall. All three schools recruited Mitchell three years ago before the Mount Vernon forward chose Florida, and all three schools still have close ties to him. Rutgers guard Mike Coburn went to school with Mitchell at Mount Vernon, Seton Hall assistant Dermon Player is his former AAU coach. UMass, meanwhile, has already made a big push for Mitchell; they visited him in Florida on Friday. The Minutemen might use him to replace graduating Gary Forbes, and they have former Mount Vernon point guard Chris Lowe in the fold, although Lowe will be graduated by the time Mitchell sits out his ...
