Kellogg signing becomes official tomorrow

 
As we thought all along, UMass is expected to make its decision to hire Memphis assistant Derek Kellogg official tomorrow. Kellogg, a former Minuteman guard from nearby Springfield, Mass., has already been talking about staff. Expect him to take at least two staffers from the Tigers with him. • The Miami Dolphins - who have the first pick in Saturday’s NFL draft - took a lot of suspense out of pro football’s biggest offseason event when they announced they had selected and agreed to terms with Michigan All-American offensive tackle Jake Long today. Long, who had been at the top of the Dolphins’ board, will sign a five-year contract worth $30 million in guaranteed money. Negotiations had been going on for two weeks.
