Kennedy honored before opener

On April 4, 2005, No. 37 took the mound and opened a season for the Rockies. Left-hander Joe Kennedy went five innings, gave up seven hits and six runs, and the Rockies would beat the Padres, 12-10. Exactly three years later, on Friday afternoon, another lefty with No. 37 and "Kennedy" on the back of his Rockies jersey, threw one meaningful pitch before the team's home opener against the Diamondbacks.

Cincinnati Reds RHP Johnny Cueto made his major league debut on Thursday and everyone around the majors took note. In his stellar debut, the 5′10″ 22 year-old pitched seven innings, allowing only one hit, a home run to the Arizona Diamondbacks’ Justin Upton in the 6th inning.
