In the ARIZONA REPUBLIC, Ron Sanzone writes "a charitable army of former professional athletes arrived in North Phoenix on Tuesday evening to bring some early Christmas joy to 85 underprivileged Valley children. Children from the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community and inner city areas in Mesa and Phoenix came to Dick's Sporting Goods in Deer Valley to participate in the "Shop with Bob Lanier and friends" event. Event organizers invited children to attend based on their grades and character."
