Veteran coach Joe Kines was hired Wednesday as Texas A&M;'s assistant head coach and defensive coordinator.
Kines, whose career included stints as interim head coach at Alabama and Arkansas and working with linebackers for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, replaces Reggie Herring.
Herring had been hired in January but left to coach the Dallas Cowboys linebackers' less than a month later.
Texas A&M; coach Mike Sherman said Kines was "what you call a 'ball coach.

gate21.net 2/14/2008 — Munson, along with the Mississippi State's Jack Cristil, the Tarhead U's Woody Durham, Duke's Bob Harris, and Gene Deckerhoff of FSU represent the last of the great southern college radio announcers. I'm sure there may be a few more scattered across the country, but there can't be too many more. They are, sadly, a group which is fading farther and farther into the past every year.
