Knicks make mistake with father and son
Explain to me why the Knicks even traded for Patrick Ewing Jr. in the first place when they already had 15 guaranteed contracts? If Donnie Walsh knew he wasn’t going to cut Jerome James - by all means why would you do such a thing? - and that cutting Anthony Roberson would mean admitting his first free agent signing was mistake, why even go through the exercise of bringing Patrick Ewing’s son to camp?
If you’re scoring at home, the Knicks refuse to even consider Patrick Ewing Sr. for a job even though they seemed to have found a position for Allan Houston. And to top it all off, they bring in Ewing Jr. and release him two days before the start of the regular season. Clearly, this isn’t based on performance since Jerome didn’t even play in the preseason after logging a grand total of five minutes all of last season.
