Lady Terps Get Reality Check, Drop First Game 80-68

 
Senior standout guard Kristi Tolliver could only grimace as the final buzzer sounded. This isn’t the start that Tolliver or Coach Brenda Friese envisioned when the team went 33-4 and advanced to the Regional Final last year. "Obviously we didn’t come out with the same sense of urgency that they did and they capitalized on it,” said a disappointed Tolliver.  But she quickly displayed her positive leadership skills adding, “It’s better to start the season this way then end it like this. We’re going to remain as optimistic as possible.” Host Texas Christian University kept Maryland’s offense in check and forced 17 turnovers, en route to an 80-68 upset victory.  Led by TK La Fleur’s 28 points, TCU took advantage of starting the game on an 11-0 run, and opened the second half scoring nine straight points.
