Lance a leading candidate for FIBA team

Lance Stephenson, the 6-6 junior phenom from Lincoln High in Brooklyn, is one of 14 finalists for the U.S. 18-and-under team that will play in the FIBA Americas Tournament in Argentina. Others from the area to make the initial cut: point guard Kemba Walker of Rice and guard Dom Cheeks of St. Anthony’s. The team needs to be sliced to 12. Stephenson, who have been the constant subject of rumors about his college destination, said this week he was mainly focused on Kansas, Memphis and Tennessee. His secondary line of schools includes St. John’s, North Carolina, Duke and Texas. (link)
