LSU still hunting for coach

LSU keeps sifting through potential candidates now that Travis Ford of UMass and Oliver Purnell of Clemson have opted to stay at their current jobs for now. The school apparently has contacted Trent Johnson of Stanford and we wonder if new AD Joe Alleva, who just came in from Duke, might have an interest in Notre Dame’s Mike Brey, a two-time Big East coach of the year and a former assistant on Mike Krzyzewski’s staff. Ford could surface as a candidate in the neverending Providence coaching search. The Big East school apparently contacted Fran Fraschilla, a former PC assistant and current ESPN analyst at the Final Four, but there was no real interest on his part. • Oregon State is apparently ready to sign new coach Craig Robinson to a five-year deal worth $750,000 per, to fix that Pac-10 bottom dweller, according to West Coast papers.
