Man, Things Are Getting Predictable

Again, the Nats abused a good starting pitching performance with some shoddy bullpen work and ugly defense. Ron Villone, who allowed 0 ER in his first 19 games, allowed at least one run for the third time in four games and took the loss. But Elijah Dukes deserves a little blame, too. The two decisive doubles that New York hit in the seventh were catchable. The first, a Mark Teixeira shot into deep left-center, would have required a perfect sprinting catch.
