With Carey Price returning this week, the Montreal Canadiens announced today that goaltender Marc Denis has been reassigned to the Hamilton Bulldogs.
Denis, 31, was recalled by the Canadiens on Jan. 1, 2009. The Montreal native appeared in one game with the Canadiens this season, turning aside six of seven shots he faced in 20 minutes of ice time. The game was on January 2 in New Jersey.
In 22 games with Hamilton this season, the 6’1”, 193 pound Denis posted a record of 14 wins and seven losses with a 2.60 goals-against average and a .914 save percentage. The netminder is currently tied for ninth in the AHL with 14 wins, and tied in fourth for shutouts with three.
Denis was also named AHL Player of the Week for the period ending November 2, 2008. He recorded three wins in as many starts, stopping 96 of 99 shots directed at him.
Denis will join the Bulldogs in preparation for their next game against the Syracuse Crunch.
