... Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban will have to throw more money at the problem next year because the team’s fading 2008 championship hopes went down with Dirk Nowitzki on Sunday. Dirk is expected to miss two weeks with what is being called a lower left leg injury.. In layman’s terms that means season killing injury. ...

... Yeah, but Marc Stein of espn.com - who I believe may also be a blogger, can we get a ruling from the all-important Mark Cuban? - is saying it’s a two-week deal. Looking at the Mavs schedule, there is the big game at Denver on Thursday, but they are done playing the Eastern Conference already. ...
Schedule Not Doing Dirk-less Mavs Any Favors

A Daily Babble Production At the risk of stating the patently obvious, the Dallas Mavericks are in trouble. Boatloads of it. Just in case the 0-8 mark against winning teams since the Jason Kidd trade wasn't bad enough, the Mavs lost their best player to what appeared to be a high ankle sprain on Sunday afternoon. The official reports of the unscientific diagnoses of Dirk Nowitzki's injury have him out for most of the regular season's remaining schedule (courtesy ESPN): DALLAS -- Although no official recovery timetable has been established, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark ...

San Antonio Spurs 88 Dallas Mavericks 81 The Mavericks are in trouble. Not only did they lose to another winning team on Sunday (Since the Jason Kidd trade, the Mavs are 0-8 against teams with winning records) but they also lost their best player for a few weeks . Dirk Nowitzki landed awkwardly on his leg during the 3rd quarter, and had to be helped off the court. The way things are in the west, that's long enough for the Mavs to fall out of the playoffs. "I fell awkwardly and my left leg got caught underneath of me," Nowitzki said in a statement. "I am going to get ...
Dirk's MRI Results Are In - No Tears!

... Nothing is torn which was obviously everyones biggest fear, so I guess this is good news. Dirk always recovers from these ankle sprains rather quickly, but the sprained knee and the fact that this is a high ankle sprain could make this one a little more complicated. My uneducated guess is that Mark Cuban's initial two week diagnosis will be a pretty good one. Two weeks would see Dirk miss seven of the remaining 12 games. vs LAC at DEN at GSW at LAC vs GSW at LAL at PHX
