Met family mourns Holmes

For 30 years, Tommy Holmes served the team as the director of amateur baseball relations and he always had a way of bringing a smile to people's faces. The Mets were in mourning Monday after Holmes, 91, died of natural causes.

After three disappointing games against the Reds, it was hard to imagine much good coming out of New York. Sure, Ben Sheets was pitching but he was going up against Johan Santana in his Shea Stadium debut.
