Michael Beasley' Must Balance Talent With Maturity

The Miami Heat fell to 7-7 after a disappointing loss to the Houston Rockets on Monday night. Thus far, Michael Beasley has averaged 14.8 ppg while pulling down 5.5 rpg. He has looked sharp at times and lackluster at others. No doubt about it; he's not lacking in the talent department. However, as talented as he may be, his maturity needs to take a huge leap forward. Sure, he's only 19, but we can all agree he's no ordinary teenager. Beasley can put the ball on the floor with the best of them, he can drain the three and shoots 80% from the strike. He puts up great individual statistics for a 19-year-old rookie, but collectively, the Heat will need more.  Defensively, Beasley needs to box out more aggressively and fight harder for rebounds. He seems to take them as they come instead of making the paint his house. Michael shows that on offense he is a force to be reckoned with, however, at times he lets his impatience get the best of him. He may go 2-3  ... (link)
