MMPG: Player of the Week

Jameer Nelson, Orlando Magic What do you have to say about me now? (Photo by Noah Graham/NBAE via Getty Images) Jameer Nelson used to be one of the reasons that it was easy to disregard the Orlando Magic as a legitimate contender. Not only was he short, Nelson wasn't a pure point guard, a problem that was compounded by his inconsistent jump shot. Nelson didn't grow over the summer, but he certainly expanded his game. Now Nelson and Orlando cannot be ignored any longer. Nelson led the Magic to three wins against Sacramento, Los Angeles and Denver, averaging 24.7 points, 7.7 assists, and shot 57.8 percent (26 of 45) from the field. Nelson scored 23 points and made all five of his three-pointers in Orlando's record-setting 23-three-pointer performance in Sacramento. He scored 15 of his 28 points in the fourth quarter against the Lakers on Friday, then had 23 points (link)
