Mariano Rivera finished fifth in the AL Cy Young voting, getting three third-place votes, and Mike Mussina was sixth with two third-place votes. Cleveland’s Cliff Lee won the award, which was announced today, followed by Roy Halladay, Francisco Rodriguez and Daisuke Matsuzaka.
Rivera has gotten Cy votes four other times, finishing third in 1996, 1999 and 2004 and second in 2005. Mussina has gotten votes eight other times, finishing sixth in 1997 and 2000, fifth in 1995, 1996 and 2001, fourth in 1992 and 1994 and second in 1999.
