Mike Mussina's career is—sadly— over . Moose finishes 30 wins shy of 300, which is not too shabby at all. I think he made the right choice, retiring after his first 20-win season. Rather than drag his career into his 40s, sullying his numbers, he's taking the high road and signing off on a good note. I mean, a sorta good note. He still never won a championship. But at least he pitched very, very well last year. Moose could potentially have chased 300, but it would have taken a while to get there. He could have tried to win the elusive title, I guess. But I don't think he wanted to see his career fizzle at the end. He's up there in age, and he knows he can't keep this up for long. And so, it ends. It's a good move for Mussina, and now the Yankees will have to move on. I've always been a big fan of Moose, and I hope he succeeds in whatever he does now. I could see him coaching one day, and would love to see him return to the organization.
