Mike Mussina had plenty to say during his retirement conference call today, including the fact that he made his decision back in January. My story in Thursday’s paper includes most of the key things he discussed, but after a 45-minute call, there was much more than I could fit in the story.

On his chances to make the Hall of Fame:
“It’s not my decision to make. That’s an argument that people are going to have opinions on both sides. I never got a chance to win a world championship, I never won a Cy Young Award and on the last day of my career, I finally won 20 games. But there are some other things I have accomplished that I’m pretty proud of. To win 270 games and to win 10 or more in 17 straight years, there are some nice things that I’ve been able to do.”
