NCAA Tournament: West Virginia Disgraces the Underdog
It's human nature—everyone wants to root for the underdog. Everyone wants to see David slay Goliath, see the little guy pull one out, like Appalachian State beating Michigan, or lowly West Virginia beating Duke to make the Sweet 16, and so on. Everyone loves a "Cinderella". Not me. Why, you ask? Sportmanship—or the lack thereof. Unless it's my team, of course, but I don't think anyone would ever call Ohio State or Duke a "Cinderella". In some cases, teams that aren't supposed to win and do celebrate and are gracious in victory. They acknowledge that they shocked the world, and that they had to beat a great team to do so. Ohio State did this in 2002 when they beat Miami for the national championship. In other cases though, like in Saturday's game between WVU and Duke, it makes you wonder why one roots for the little guy.
