The Nets completed another trade tonight, shipping Marcus Williams to the Golden State Warriors for a draft pick - or maybe two - down the road.
Here’s how it’ll work: If the Warriors make the playoffs in 2011, the Nets will get their first-round pick that year. If not, they’d get the pick the next season as long as the Warriors aren’t picking in the top 11. If it doesn’t happen that year, the Nets will get the Warriors top pick in 2013, as long as it’s not pick 1 through 10.
If the Nets get none of those picks, they’d instead get Golden State’s second-round picks in 2013 and 2015.
Any of those picks may not seem like much for a point guard who was a first-round pick himself two years ago, but the Nets had to do something to get rid of Williams, who averaged 6.4 points and three assists in two seasons.
