New York Giants Sign Safety Sammy Knight

 
Welcome to New York, Mr.Knight. GM Jerry Reese wasted little time in finding a suitable replacement for Oakland-bound Gibril Wilson, inking Sammy Knight to a three-year, $5.15 million deal. One will have difficulty criticizing the Giants with this one.  They saved upwards of $10 million by not signing Wilson and have a obtained a guy with an impeccable stat sheet. Knight had played in 16 games in 10 of 11 seasons. He has over 1,000 career tackles and 42 interceptions. With Antonio Pierce being a tackling machine one level in front of him, don't expect Knight to have a 100 tackle season, but expect that he may build upon his nine career sacks in Steve Spagnuolo's defense where the blitzes can come from anywhere on the field. Knight also played in Miami with cornerback Sam Madison, so the two should take less time to gel and will provide him with a familiar face.
