... There's now a proposal — by, surprisingly, the Kansas City Chiefs — to ban long hair in the NFL next season. The owners will consider it at their meetings in Palm Beach, Fla., next week, because, you know, all the major prblems with the league have been solved. The Steelers' Troy Polamalu is waiting anxiously by his phone for any news. ...

Ok, just a quick thought or two before opening it up to the group for your thoughts. I can't wait to see how Anthony Smith performs in 2008. Remember, before the infamous 'guarantee', Smith was playing some very solid football in the absence of Troy Polamalu and Ryan Clark. He and Tyrone Carter were asked to anchor a secondary that, despite it's problems to those of us who watched the games ...Game Changers

Because anything can be related to something from the Simpsons, immediately upon hearing that the NFL was considering banning long hair, I thought of how that would probably please Grandpa Simpson. “Look at them sideburns! I have no idea why the Kansas City Chiefs care about this issue, but for some reason they do. Apparently, someone in the organization is concerned enough with the hair length of NFL players that they've proposed a rule requiring them to tuck it up inside their helmet. This post obviously lets us reference one of our favorite Pavement songs , but in addition to that it gets at the heart of something we don’t really like: leagues and teams legislating against appearance. In this case, the NFL is trying to get hair tucked into helmets, perhaps more for safety reasons than anything, but it’s still an infringement on some freedoms: Troy Polamalu ...Carl Peterson has a real problem with you damn hippies
